What does it cost to have the Stone Cold Cowboys for your event?
The simple answer is “it depends”. Not every show is the same and there are many factors that contribute to how much we charge for each event.
- Type of Event/Show
- Most folks are shocked to learn that we charge varying rates for shows of identical duration, depending solely on the event type or client. After all, a three-hour performance is just that—a three-hour performance, right? Not quite. In reality, elements like the event’s nature, required prep work, logistical demands, and additional considerations (detailed below) determine why certain gigs command a premium over others. It’s always important to have as much information upfront so we can provide a good solution for your event.
- We’re a big group
- We’ve often joked that we bring in a baseball team to put on a show like this and it’s not far from the truth. With 8 pickers, pluckers, and hollerers plus 1-2 sound-and-light wranglers, we roll in like a small circus (no animals). That’s a major reason for the price we charge.
- How long do you play?
- It’s possible to charge a little bit less for a 2 hour show than a 3 or 4 hour show. However, the amount isn’t as drastic as you’d think, as the commute, setup, preparation doesn’t change much. So this is a factor, just not a huge one. Playing music is always the easy part!
- How far will you travel?
- We would play in Las Vegas tomorrow for the right amount of money! LOL! It does seem obvious, but yes, we do charge more if we have to travel. 8 band members and sound means lots of vehicles and trailers and the potential for overnight accommodations. We are happy to travel pretty much anywhere to play, but expect to pay a bit more the further you get from Central Illinois.
We understand we may not fit everyone’s budget, but we will do our best to work with you and your event to provide a great country music experience that people will talk about for a long time after.
- Do you provide your own sound?
- Sure. For most gigs, we will provide our own sound equipment and routinely work with local sound engineers at our gigs. You are welcome to use the microphones for any announcements that you may have, etc. If the event is providing a sound system, please provide us with a contact for the company that you are using so we can make sure we have everything we need.
- Do we need to provide a stage?
- It depends. If this is a public festival/concert, yes. We request a 16ft(D) x 24ft(W) stage, but the minimum size cannot be smaller than 12ft(D) x 20ft(W), this does not include space for the sound system. Smaller stages can create unknown complications and potential safety issues. If this is for a private event (like a wedding), we typically will not need a stage. For larger private parties, we may request one. We’ll work with you to make it work. We aren’t looking for VIP treatment here.
- How much do you cost?
- Again, It depends. The type of event, travel distance, and length of performance are all factors that contribute to the cost. If you are interested in getting a quote for your event, please contact us.
